So, we all have the same 24 hours in every day. Why do some people drag themselves through the day while others seem to sing and dance along the way? Even the busiest individuals sometimes appear to have excess energy to share. Do you wish you could feel more alive and alert throughout the day? Our bodies have a way of letting us know when a change is in order. It is up to you however to listen and take whatever action is needed.
So, how do you feel at this moment? Tired? Energized? Run down? My life is very "full" between kids, activities, work, the household, and the list could go on and on. I have, however, gotten much better over the years at nourishing my body both physically and emotionally when needed. I've realized that taking care of myself, with some uninterrupted time just for me, makes me more present and emotionally available for all those around me. So it is not a selfish act at all, not a luxury, but a necessity in this fast paced world.
What changes could you make to your own life to boost your energy? Maybe it is just being more aware of your feelings in order to make the changes. Noticing when you are a bit more grumpy and on edge than normal. Again, it is about listening to the clues being presented to you and then doing something about it. Here are some tips to get you started this week:
ACTION STEPS FOR THE WEEK:
1. Get moving
We all get tense and stressed, but exercise has a way of relieving that stress. It gives you an opportunity to relieve the tension and focus on something other than what is on your mind. Getting some fresh air and/or some movement is vital in boosting your energy throughout the day. Commit to just 10-15 minutes a day this week.
2. Clear the clutter
You know how it feels to be surrounded by clutter, it literally zaps your energy. It takes more energy to look at and stress about the clutter than it does to do something about it. If you are stressed for time, then devote 15 minutes every night before going to bed. Clear your desk, put the dishes away, file the bills, toss the magazines. Waking up to a clean desk and organized home will give you a boost of positive energy right when you wake up.
3. Do something you love
Doing something you enjoy will instantly boost you up. You don't need a lot of time to pursue activities you enjoy. Again, it's all a matter of priorities. If you are feeling down and lethargic, you need to change the energy and do something that lights you up. Put on some music, dance around the room, do some scrapbooking, read a novel. Devote a little time each and every day to yourself and your interests!
Good Luck!
Have a great week!
