Have you ever made an assumption about something only to find out that you were totally wrong? Your assumptions in life could be stopping you from experiencing the best that life has to offer. By automatically assuming something you are closing off potential opportunities for happiness and success in your life.
John Sales once said, 'Assumptions allow the best in life to pass you by.' Have you noticed that most of the time, assumptions have a negative connotation? Very rarely do people assume the best about another person, the economy, the weather, their finances, their jobs, and so on. By always choosing to assume the negative about things, you are willing to allow incredible opportunities to walk right past you to never be seen again.
Instead of assuming, try doing a little investigation into the subject at hand. Give things a chance instead of just going into something with a negative attitude and assuming the worst about it. You never know if the very thing that you assume will never work could be just the thing that propels your life into great success and happiness.
There will always be an element of risk in trying something new or giving something a chance, but think about the alternative. If you always assume the negative then you risk never having anything successful in life happen to you and therefore stop yourself from having great happiness. I would rather try a few things and get them wrong then to never try anything at all. If you do nothing you will have nothing.
