How Much Faith Does It Take to Change A Lightbulb?

by Joyce Shafer

Someone once said to me, "There's nothing more tempting than an ex." Though I know he referred to a relationship, this can hold true for anything we were previously involved with. When we stand amidst change, thoughts can happen that question, Was it really so bad? The ego part of us so craves that circumstances allow us to feel a certain way, it often tempts us to go back to something that didn't work rather than stand strong in aspects of the unknown.

This dynamic is where I am at this moment, and every day is an adventure of the self for me. I came across a quote by Harriet Beecher Stowe: "When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn." Fear and impatience can cause us to abandon something better coming to us.

It's fun to banter about the Law of Attraction, but it can be more than a bit interesting to put it into practice and to keep faith about our ability to attract and manifest things into our life. Though the foundation of this practice is based in science, its application is an art. Focusing on what we wish or intend to attract is an action performed so that we convey information to ourselves and the quantum field. However, that's not the focus we have to hold to facilitate its arrival. The trick is to identify how we prefer to feel and hold That within us no matter what. Sometimes, it takes an effort to get there. It's a bit like pulling away artichoke leaves until you get to the heart. Granted, we could just turn the artichoke over and go straight for the heart, but we'd miss experiencing each leaf. And, we can get so focused on required actions, we forget we chose an entire experience for a reason.

Changing our life can parallel changing a lightbulb. There's a moment when the old bulb goes out and has to be replaced and means we temporarily stand in a level of darkness. We have to physically remove the bulb that doesn't work, put in a new one, and flip the switch. We have faith that we'll have light once again. We don't understand everything about electricity, nor do we need to be electricians in order to change bulbs or turn a light on. We know it works. We never stand there with hand poised at the switch and question if it will work for us or if we deserve it. We expect it to work. It's the same for the quantum field's ability to manifest what supports what we feel at our core. The difference is that the field is responsive to our feelings and provides for us accordingly, whether it's faith or lack of it.

Mastery evolves as we come to terms with the fact that manifestation is an inner process at all times, one that does, indeed, call external influences to us so that we can have an artichoke-like experience of ourselves as we move through our moments to reveal the true heart and power of who we are. The key is to choose to feel how we prefer to feel, with full faith that the field will provide circumstances to support that feeling.

Let there be light.
