The importance of work right now, has multiple facets even when money is less available than we are accustomed to, and when all around us people are being made redundant.
The most obvious reason is that you want to keep money coming in, even if it's only a small amount; and when we work, not only are we making money but we may be inclined to spend less because we're busy.
Secondly, when we're working, whatever work we do, gives us a sense of purpose. And when some areas of our lives feel out of control, especially financially, having something to get up for in the mornings can help us maintain a sense of normality and balance internally.
Thirdly, when we have a job, whatever that job may be, it can sometimes give us a sense of identity, even if it's not our most desired job, or our planned career, it still tends to give us a feeling that we are part of something bigger than ourselves.
The more a person feels in charge of his life, in control of what is going on, the person feels more motivated to take action, more optimistic, more confident.
These are a few tips of what you can do right now, to coach yourself and keep yourself motivated, optimistic and confident:
1.Focus on what is available out there for you to obtain a job of some sort. Review your CV, look at adverts in your local paper, the Internet, national newspapers and recruitment agencies.
2.Think outside your usual box; ask yourself again and again, "What would I be willing to do just to tide things over for now?" Be flexible with your thinking. If you've got people skills you could look at sales opportunities, if you've got computer skills you could look at administration roles, if you want flexible hours you can look for places that use shift workers. There's plenty out there if you set your mind to making this happen.
3.Change your mind set. This is the most important tip of all. If you can convince yourself that you can do this, you will. If you can identify good reasons to do this, you will. If you can see yourself succeeding in doing this, you will. The attitude you have towards this will either make this work or not, and this part is totally within your control.
When you start to take action, you'll see that things start to happen around you.
My biggest tip: Take Action Now!
