Time Management comes down to Choice Management

by Brian Rinke

"I don't have enough time!"

How many times do we hear that statement, or perhaps recite it ourselves. The truth is you have all the time there is. With each new day, we receive a deposit of 24 hours or 1440 minutes into our time bank. How we choose to use that time will determine our level of success. Managing your time is a critical aspect of self mastery, yet so many business owners have difficulty with Time Management. Why?

Perhaps the reason can be found in the definition itself. To manage means to dominate or influence, to shape or form, handle, direct, govern or control in action or use, however, none of these can be applied to time. Time cannot be influenced or controlled. We cannot shape or form it, nor can we affect the amount of it we have each day. When you apply the definition of manage to Time Management, you can begin to see the term itself can be part of the problem.

So what does that leave us with? Choice Management! Look at the choices you make throughout your day and week. Do you choose activities that move you closer to your goals or do you choose to waste time on low priority busy work? Managing your time comes down to managing your choices. So manage your time choices wisely or poor time choices will manage you, your time and your business.
